SUMMER 2013

Our Holiday this summer took us north from Ayamonte. The first overnight stop was Cordoba then on to Madrid where we visited the Valley of the Fallen. A controvercial monument and burial place of General Franco. A spectacular place in need of much restoration with a dark history of how it came to be.

This enormous cross stands on top of the Basilica hewn out of the rocks beneath.

Andorra was our next chosen place to spend a couple of days. Tax here is kept very low to encourage shopping for all the latest gadgets and of course fuel at 1.13euros was an added bonus for us.

The drive from Andorra to Carcassonne was breathtaking we were in the snow in places having left blistering sunshine in Madrid only two days earlier.

Just one example of the many mountain passes we were to encounter on this holiday.
